Our Thanksgiving
We had a great Thanksgiving this year. We went to Dax's sister's house and let the kids run wild with their cousins. Then the next day we went out riding with some friends. Jade is learning how to ride a dirt bike all by herself and is doing very well. Jade, Eliza and Lex are all great riders on the little quad. Dax took Axle for a ride on our friend's little dirt bike and let him control the steering and throttle. Axle doesn't understand why he can't ride all by himself like the others. My friend and I got a fun little ride in on the quads and then all the guys loaded up for their ride. Dax has gotten a lot more comfortable on his dirt bike and actually prefers it over the quad. Unfortunately for him he got a little too comfortable on that day. He went into a turn too fast and didn't make it. After crashing into a 2 foot dirt edge he launched himself off his bike and off a 12 foot drop. Like a cat he landed on his feet. Unlike a cat he didn't just get up and walk away. We got his left leg x-rayed and there are no broken bones. We saw an Orthopedist Tuesday and he is guessing Dax tore some ligaments in his knee and stretched the nerve adjacent to those ligaments. We are waiting for our insurance to authorize an MRI so we can find out for sure. His foot is numb and just hangs limp. Needless to say he is getting around on crutches and has a very swollen and bruised calf and knee. I feel like he was really lucky he wasn't hurt worse. So he won't be riding anytime soon. Oh and the bike is fine and started right back up. I know you were all concerned about that.

Oh! You should have warned us that there would be a nasty picture. We really hope Dax's leg heals quickly. We are so glad he wasn't hurt worse.
ReplyDeleteTell the truth! The injury really came from shopping on Black Friday didn't it?! Dax got a little too excited about a great deal on a sweater and tried to hurtle a table or something, right?!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon Dax. Have Azurella give you a bell to ring when you need her to bring you something.
