Henrichsen Family

The Henrichsen Family Update

Here’s a review of 2009 for the Henrichsen family:

In February, Scott once again attended the Super Bowl for work. Because it was held within driving distance (Florida), Tracie, Scotlyn, and Brayden all jumped in the car and drove down to spend some time with him while he was there. On a day that he had free, we were able to go to Disney World for the day. February must be a good time to go, because Scott and the kids never waited in line for more than 30 minutes for even the most popular rides. Tracie rode the little rides, but had to pass on the bigger ones since she was quite pregnant! We also got the treat of staying with Scott in a REALLY nice hotel that we would never have stayed in otherwise. When Scott left for the game, Tracie and the kids headed for home. It was a nice little break for all of us.

In March, Scotlyn turned 11! We can’t believe that she has grown up so fast! It’s hard to believe that in just a few more months she will be 12!

April brought the arrival of our newest family member. Boston Forbes Henrichsen was born on April 18th at 11:49 pm. He weighed 6 lbs 9.6 oz and was 18 inches long. He was very cooperative and arrived 2 ½ weeks early, the day AFTER the baby shower (just as Tracie told him to). He is healthy and happy and such a blessing to our family. He is adored and spoiled!

May saw the end of another school year and another season of soccer for Scotlyn and soccer and baseball for Brayden. Whew! With Scott coaching all three teams (as usual) and Tracie just having had a baby, it was nice to have all of these things come to an end.

In June we blessed Boston. We were grateful that Scott’s mom and Tracie’s mom and dad were all able to make it out here to Georgia for the special day.

June was also the month when Brayden turned 9, and Scott and Tracie celebrated their 16th Wedding Anniversary. Where does the time go?!

July was a fun month for us. We got to take a trip to Washington, D.C with our very good friends, the Silva family. It was wonderful to get to visit our Nation’s Capitol! It was also very handy that Ed Silva is a U.S History teacher who was able to provide us with all kinds of interesting facts as we viewed the sights. We rode the Metro, saw the White House, several Smithsonian museums, war memorials, monuments, Arlington cemetery (where we got to see the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier), Ford’s Theater, etc, etc. It was an amazing trip. It gave us all such an appreciation for our country. As a side note, Boston did exceptionally well on the trip. He slept the entire time in the car, only waking when he was hungry. He was so good, which made the trip that much more enjoyable for all of us.

Throughout the entire summer we also enjoyed visits to the lake. Call us crazy to go out with a baby, but we did. He actually really loved being on the boat. Scotlyn and Brayden enjoyed more tubing, and we all enjoyed the company of friends almost every time we went.

August ushered in the new school year and another season of soccer for Scotlyn and Brayden (with Scott coaching both teams again – of course!). Scotlyn started 6th Grade, which is Middle School here, and Brayden started the 4th Grade.

In September Scotlyn and Tracie got a special treat. We were able to go to the Taylor Swift concert with our friends, Alison and Madison Silva.

October was less fun, but not less interesting. Tracie started having some really painful stomach attacks that turned out to be her gallbladder. After a trip to the ER at 2 am, and several days of being REALLY sick after the ER visit, she had her gallbladder removed. Who knew something so little could cause so much pain?! Thankfully that adventure was quickly behind us and we moved on to Trick or Treating with friends at the end of the month.

November was the end of another fun soccer season. It was also Scott’s Birthday. Sometime during the month Scott also decided to make a change to his hairstyle. After debating for quite some time, he finally decided to shave his head! Yup! Shaved completely bald! It’s actually a good look for him!

And finally, December brought us a mixture of adventures. Tracie celebrated her Birthday (26 again, thank you very much!), we enjoyed Christmas as a family, and we hosted a New Year’s Eve party at our home for the youth of our Ward (Scott is the Bishop). Unfortunately, December was also when Scott’s employer did some restructuring and, after 8 years with the Atlanta Falcons, he was laid off 3 weeks before Christmas. We are currently looking for our next opportunity!

That brings us to now. Despite the challenges of 2009, we feel greatly blessed. We are thankful to be healthy, happy, and together. We look forward to a promising new year full of adventure and opportunity. We hope the New Year brings each of you much happiness!

With love,

The Henrichsens (Scott, Tracie, Scotlyn, Brayden, and Boston)

  1. Where's the picture of the bald head? I can't picture it.
