In Honor of our Mexican Heritage!

I thought I would help all of you celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a laugh at my expense. Some of you may already know this story but feel free to laugh at me again.

When I was about 13 or 14 we got a visit from Grandpa Hurst. Mom and Dad decided that Grandpa needed to tell us some of his history, so he sat us down and told us about his past. As Grandpa talked I got more and more confused. I knew he was born in Mexico, but as he told us about their experiences there, a new fact dawned on me. We were not in fact Mexican. That's right. For 13 years I had believed that we were 1/4 Mexican. That theory made total sense to me. Why else would Dad's skin be so dark. Why else would Mom have a built in salsa meter that told her when she was running low on salsa (never mind the fact that Mom's parents were never believed to be Mexican).

I was shaken to the core, rushed immediately to a psycologist, and told to eat chips and salsa regularly as treatment. Okay, so I made the last part up but don't tell Trent. He thinks that if I don't have chips and salsa weekly that it will cause some post tramatic stress thing to happen and I'm perfectly content having him believe that. The thinking we were part Mexican is true. And for those of you wondering, yes, I am naturally blond.

After Grandpa's story I decided Dad must be telling the truth about being bathed last in very dirty water.

If any of you have any other facts I have gotten wrong over the years that will force me to eat yummy food every week for therapy, please let me know!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!!
Now go participate in my group therapy and have some SALSA!!!
